Consistent Product Information for All Relevant Channels

Rotho develops and distributes high-quality products for the home, kitchen, storage and other areas of everyday life. To ensure that product information is consistent, up to date and complete across a wide range of digital touchpoints, the company needed a central and efficiently usable data foundation.


Together with Arcmedia, Rotho further developed its product data processes and established Akeneo PIM as the central platform for managing and providing product information. This creates a foundation for maintaining product data in a structured way, distributing it in a targeted manner and efficiently connecting additional digital channels in the future, including fast-growing marketplaces such as Amazon and many others.

The User Experience

Consistent and complete product information is the basis for a compelling digital shopping experience. Customers, retail partners and internal teams all benefit from products being presented consistently across relevant touchpoints.
For product management in particular, the solution simplifies day-to-day work with extensive product data, variants and different product characteristics. Information is maintained centrally and can be made available more efficiently for a variety of use cases.

The Technology

Akeneo PIM forms the core of the new product data landscape. The platform supports Rotho in centrally structuring, enriching and making product information available for different digital channels.
Data flows between the central product data platform and surrounding systems are orchestrated through a modern integration architecture. This creates a scalable foundation for flexibly developing existing and future requirements in digital commerce, content management and sales.

The Challenge

Before the project, product information was distributed across different systems and processes. The absence of a central product data repository meant additional effort for product management when maintaining, coordinating and providing data.
Particularly challenging were the broad product range, the number of variants and data attributes, as well as the requirement to make product information usable in a structured and high-quality way for various digital use cases. At the same time, Rotho wanted to establish a foundation that would allow it to continue developing its digital sales channels for the future.

The Result

With the central product data platform, Rotho now has an important foundation for more consistent and efficient product data management.
The new solution supports product management in centrally managing product information and making it available for different digital channels. As a result, data quality is strengthened, manual coordination efforts can be reduced and new requirements can be developed further on a scalable technological basis.
The project therefore creates an essential prerequisite for the continuous development of Rotho’s digital product communication and omnichannel commerce.
